Lowell Lindquist

June 6, 1952 — July 21, 2025

Lowell Glen Lindquist, 73, of Nevis, MN died on July 21, 2025 at his home in Phoenix, AZ of complications from Parkinson's disease.

Lowell was born on June 6, 1952 to Glen and Virgiline (Brainard) Lindquist in Glenwood, MN. He grew up on a farm in Pennock, MN, attending country school until 7th grade and then New London-Spicer school, graduating in 1970. Soon after, he fulfilled his dreams of returning to the farm (his first love) to work with his father, having become a father himself to a daughter, Jessica, and son Andrew.

With his insatiable curiosity, Lowell added college coursework to his farming career and earned an associate's degree from Willmar Community College in 1984. He then returned to school full-time, earning a bachelor's degree with a double major in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1987. It was when he returned to college that he met his wife, Lois Werner, whom he married on June 13, 1987, and they had two children together, a son Nathan and daughter Lacey.

Lowell moved his family to the twin cities, living in White Bear Lake until 1998, then moving to Mahtomedi, MN. At home, he was a softball and soccer coach for his daughter Lacey and Boy Scout leader for his son Nathan's troop at St. Pius X in White Bear Lake. He worked as a chemical engineer and chemist with HB Fuller from 1988 until 2017. Though based in Vadnais Heights, MN, he traveled the world for work and came home with a story for every person he ever met, becoming known to all as "the man who likes to talk." He carried his passion for traveling throughout his life, paying special homage to his heritage with a trip to Sweden with his wife and daughter Lacey in 2010.

After retiring, he moved to his lake home in Nevis, MN, where he found a new kind of family in his Rock Steady Parkinson's support group at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. He never lost his love of traveling, celebrating his 70th birthday at his son Nathan's wedding in Spain. He was a sports fanatic-especially of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings-even after relocating to Phoenix, AZ, late in life, where he spent his final days. He remained a voracious reader (with a history book collection to prove it) and a lover of music, farming, Tommy Bahama fashion, and (above all else) fishing - calling every lake he fished "his piece of heaven."

Our world traveler passed away peacefully in his home, comforted by his family, faith, and the care of Bridges Hospice. He is lovingly remembered as a man who was unapologetically himself (in a former teacher's words, "a brilliant pain in the ass") who spoke well and often of all the friends he made throughout his life. He kept his stories, stubbornness, sense of humor, and love for his family till the very end. While no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing he finally made it back to the lake.

He is survived by his wife Lois of 38 years, their two children Nathan Lindquist (and wife Silvia) of Phoenix, AZ and Lacey Kambeitz (and husband Daniel) of Scottsdale, AZ, his children from his first marriage, Jessica Rohloff of Belgrade, MN and Andrew Lindquist (and wife Jennifer) of Willmar, MN, grandchildren Drew, Julia and Elizabeth Lindquist and Caden Kambeitz, his great niece Brianna Treml, who was like a daughter to him, his great nephew (and best fishing buddy) Mitchell Treml, his siblings Nancy Lindquist, William Lindquist (and wife Mary), Diana Murphy (and husband Dennis) and many other relatives and friends. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law James Treml.
