12/23/1918 ~ 2/16/2011

A Very Amazing Woman Margaret, age 92, passed to the Lord peacefully at the Waverly Gardens of North Oaks. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Frederick W. Fischer; sisters, Mayfred Asher, Marcella Larson and Delores Thomas. She is survived by her son, Frederick; daughter, Brenda; brothers, Bruce and Joel Goldstrand, brother, Douglas R. Nelson and many cousins, loving friends and relatives. Special thanks to her friends and helpers Rebecca Saidie, Natalie Schiller and Bonnie Wakefield. Margaret grew up in the North Branch and Taylors Falls areas; playing basketball for the North Branch High School. She graduated from Bethesda Nursing School in the class of 1940. Her entire life was spent as a proud and good nurse. She was a brilliant diagnostician. During the Korean War, she lived in Washington D.C. with her husband, Fred, as he dealt with the challanges of purchasing via the war department. They also lived briefly in Deerborn, Michigan. Community was always important to Margaret. She was a member of many boards, from consumer groups to charitable organizations like the United Fund and American Red Cross. A loyal member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and supporter of Fort Snelling Chapel. Faith played a key role in Margaret's life. She lived her faith in word and deed. She never feared what was to come. Faith gave her great strength and comfort. The lives she touched will be less without her but the wonderful memories given her by these people comforted and inspired her throughout her life. A memorial gathering will be held at BRADSHAW, Saturday, February 26 from 11:30am to 1:30pm with a brief service at 1:00pm. Private interment. Memorials to the organization of your choice in lieu of flowers.
