Bayport, Minnesota

Marilyn Mae Hubin

Marilyn was taken into the presence of her Lord on Dec. 23, 2023.  She was born Feb. 13, 1936 in St. Paul, MN, to Robert and Evelyn Hagstrom, and grew up with two older brothers, Bob Jr. and Rich.  She grew up on St. Paul's East side and graduated from Johnson High School in 1953.  She met her husband Allen at Bethel College, and after her graduation they married in 1958 and went on to raise five children at the White Bear Lake home they shared for 60 years until moving together to Croixdale Assisted Living in Bayport in 2022.  With their family, they served and worshiped for many years at Arlington Hills Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, and for the past 45 years at North Heights Lutheran Church in Roseville.

"Marno," as she was dubbed by her first niece and fondly called by Al for the decades to follow, was deeply devoted to her family, a kind and thoughtful friend, known for her lovely singing voice, and by far most importantly (she would say), one who loved and placed her hope and trust in her Savior, Jesus Christ.  She and Al together shared that hope with others by serving in music ministry, to both the special needs Sunday School class at North Heights for 30 years and in the memory care unit at Presbyterian Homes at Lake Johanna for over 20.  At North Heights she was also an integral part of the women’s “Worship and Word” ministry, as well as the church cell group that met regularly in their home for years.  Marilyn loved God’s creation (especially flowers and birds) and praying for her family.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rich.  Though we truly rejoice in her homegoing, Marilyn will be missed (for now) by her husband, Allen, her children Loren (Carol), Jennifer, Wendy (Greg) Durant, Daniel (Terrie), and Joy (Jason) Luedtke, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Bob (Diane) Hagstrom Jr., sister-in-law Carol Costello, brother- and sister-in-law Ed and Phyllis Hubin, and brother-in-law Will Hubin, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at North Heights Lutheran Church, 2701 N. Rice St. in Roseville on Friday, January 5th, with a 10 a.m. visitation and an 11 a.m. service, followed by a luncheon and then burial at Evergreen Memorial Garden in Mahtomedi.  Memorials preferred to Samaritan’s Purse Ministries.
