Marilyn Joy (Gunderson) Redin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2025. Born on April 21, 1935, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Stanley and Esther Gunderson, Marilyn was raised with the values that would shape her life: faith, kindness, and deep care for others. She attended Bethel University, where she met the love of her life, Paul Redin. The two married in 1957 and settled in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, in 1967 when Paul accepted a position as a math professor at Bethel. It was there that they put down roots, raised their family, and built a life together that spanned nearly seven decades.
Marilyn lived a life devoted first and foremost to her faith in God, and through that love, touched the lives of countless others with grace, warmth, and compassion. Her joy was infectious, and she had a gift for seeing the good in every situation. Whether she was baking something special, inviting someone in need to a holiday dinner, or simply offering a kind word, she made people feel seen and cared for. Hospitality was truly her ministry.
She also loved music and learned to play the piano by ear. She used these talents by singing in the choir in college and in church, leading the music ministry at First Baptist Church and just playing and singing with her grandchildren. Music inspired her and made her life richer.
She had a kind spirit and a heart full of faith. She inspired us not only with her actions but with the way she viewed the world-with hope, humor, and endless generosity. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the love she gave, and the example she set.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; children Kristie Cummings (Jeff), Ronda Bolduc (Marc), and Peter Redin (Mayumi); grandchildren Kari Kendrick, Connor Bolduc (Sarah), David Cummings, Kate Bolduc, Senna Redin and Audrey Redin; great-grandchildren Collin Kendrick and Kailah Kendrick; brothers Paul Gunderson (LeeAnn) and David Gunderson (Diane).
While our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice knowing that she is now home in heaven with Jesus.
