Marjorie Ellen Peterson (Smith) was called to Heaven on 10-21-10. Margie was
born on her parentsE farm on North Twin Lake just north of Stillwater. Throughout her
life, Margie would share many wonderful stories about living on a farm near Stillwater.
Before graduating at the top of Stillwater High School class of 1944, MargieEs "drive to
learn" made her decide to walk into town to attend band lessons and other school
events. During those early years she loved music, drawing, and the farm life. While
attending high school, many of MargieEs drawings were published in the Stillwater High
School Kabekonian year books.
Everyone she touched in life would walk away wearing a smile. Her friends down
at Rivertown Commons knew her as "Pete", however nearly everyone knew her as
"Margie".
Other passions throughout her life included spending time with friends and family
up at the cabin, out in Arizona, and down in Illinois and Iowa. Margie also had a deep
passion for lighthouses, cross-stitching, and especially genealogy. Margie was a very
dedicated "record keeper". For several years she did all the bookkeeping for Peterson
Contractors. Also throughout those early years, she donated countless hours to the
local VFW.
But MargieEs main passion in life was maintaining a wonderful home for her entire
family. Raising three children, working many hours outside the home, keeping home life
in check, and making sure everything was packed for those Friday afternoon trips to the
lake...that was what made our Margie the greatest mom!!
On September 14th, many family and friends joined in on celebrating MomEs
birthday up at the Golden Living Care Center in Stillwater. It was a gorgeous day. Mom
had the best time, as did we.
Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband Herbert Peterson, her
parents Aileen and Ralph Smith, her sister Jane Hatch of Illinois, and son-in-law Keith

blessed with three great-grandchildren. Shalynn and Treyvin Allen of Iowa, and Joshua
Sticht of Arizona. And nephew John Hatch and his wife Carol of Texas, and nephew

Extended family include a step-grandson Toby of Stillwater, step-granddaughter
Cory and her husband Dave of St. Paul, step-grandson Dean of Stillwater, stepgranddaughter
Andrea and her friend Dave of Roberts, WI, and loving step-greatgranddaughter
Kammren Tyler of Roberts, WI.
