Marlene Fay Bayne (vonHippel)

Age 92 of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024.

Marlene was born in St. Paul to Herman and Mildred vonHippel, on September 10, 1931. She attended Minnesota School for the Deaf at Faribault and graduated in 1950.She was employed at the State of MN Dept of Taxation for 10 ½ years as key punch operator. She was later employed at the St. Paul Companies (now known as Travelers) for more than 22 years and retired in December 1996.

In August of 1960 she met her husband, Gordon, of Iowa, while in Mankato for a deaf event and later married him in St. Paul on May 20, 1961. They resided in Sioux City, Iowa for 12 years and had a daughter, Marcia, and a son, Gary. The family moved to White Bear Lake, MN in July 1973.

She was active in deaf community organizations such as National Fraternal of the Deaf, Minnesota Association of the Deaf, and Minnesota Deaf Senior Citizens. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and deaf community.

Preceded by her husband, Gordon Bayne; parents, Herman and Mildred vonHippel; sister Diana Brodowy (vonHippel); and brother in law, Gene Brodowy.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Edward) Frazer of Centerville, MN; son, Gary Bayne of Little Canada, MN; stepdaughter, Nora (Clayton) Bubp of Kemah, TX; and 2 step great-grandsons, Bren and Brayton; along with 5 nieces, Brenda Brodowy of Lehigh Arces, FL, Luana (Terry) Haug of Hudson, WI, Gayla (Michael) Swart of Ham Lake, MN, Lorna (Robert) Vivrette of Salem, OR, and Gena (Michael) Grunwald of Webster City, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life for Marlene will be held on Friday, April 26 at 11:30 AM at Bradshaw (1078 Rice Street) with visitation an hour prior. Luncheon to follow service.
