Martha Jo Onstad (nee Mickelsen)

Age 74 of Stillwater passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from dementia.

Martha was born in St. Paul on March 4, 1951. Martha was young when they moved into the family home in Bayport. She loved growing up in Bayport and always considered it home. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1969 and went on to earn a BA and BS from the University of Minnesota. Martha married her high school sweetheart, Harold Onstad, and they lived in Hawaii. Martha loved to travel with family and friends. She was an avid Barry Manilow fan and attended many concerts across the country. Martha was also a collector of X Files memorabilia. She was often seen wearing something purple. Martha had a deep love of cats and enjoyed them immensely. Her favorite pastime was reading with a cat in her lap. Martha worked for Target for over 20 years along with JB Hudson and United Healthcare.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Matt "Bud" Mickelsen.

She is survived by her brother, Paul (Patti) Mickelsen; nephew, Danny Mickelsen and his children, Connor, Liam, and Emily; cousins, Lori (Greg) Gleason and their children, Ann (Cole) Gilman (their children, Leo and Lincoln), Brian Gleason, and Rollyn Lee (his children, Rick (Elly) Lee and Carl Lee).

Memorial Service 11am Saturday, November 15th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 490 4th St N, Bayport, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Interment at Hazelwood Cemetery and luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Humane Society or donor's choice.
