Mary Annette Andres

March 11, 1957 — March 20, 2026

Mary Andres
Age 69, of Roseville, Minnesota, passed away on March 20, 2026 after a short battle with ovarian cancer.

Mary was born on March 11, 1957, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to William Andres and Lorraine (Kleinman) Andres. She grew up in Sumner, Iowa and graduated from Sumner Community High School. Mary earned her bachelor's degree in social work and psychology from the University of Iowa and later went on to receive her master's degree in communications disorders from the University of Minnesota. Mary had a generous and loving personality and a desire to put others first.

Mary was empathetic and very approachable, especially to children. It was no surprise that she paired these traits together with her education in the pursuit of a career as a speech-language pathologist. Mary worked tirelessly on strategies to help improve the critical skill of communication for countless young people. She met the numerous and various challenges a career in this field faces with a positive attitude and relentless desire to "help her kids". Known for her compassion, dedication, and bright outgoing spirit, Mary served the St. Paul Public Schools in a career spanning 20 years. Mary left an indelible mark on the many students touched by her work.

Mary acquired an appreciation of music and opera from her mother and developed a lifelong passion for singing. A gifted soprano, she loved being part of the choir at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church and treasured the friendships she made while making music with its embers. Mary's father inspired her love of sports, particularly football. Mary was a devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Gophers and Vikings. Mary and her beloved cats rarely missed a game! She enjoyed commiserating with family and friends during games via text-the sharing of highs and lows creating a tether to those she loved. Mary's most cherished role on this planet was that of mother. She was blessed with a daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth 1998. She adored her little girl. Nothing meant more to Mary than the knowledge that her "Girl" was growing into a strong, independent, and happy young woman. Charlotte's recent engagement to her fiancé Chance also filled her with happiness and peace.

Mary is survived by daughter Charlotte Andres; brother Joseph Andres (Julie); niece, Emily Andres; nephews Will Andres (Emily), Sam Andres (Leigh), and Joey Andres; former sister-in-law Polly Nicklin Andres; her great-nieces and great nephews, and many dear friends, including Donna Spannaus-Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Andres and Lorraine (Kleinman) Andres.

A memorial service will be held on April 25th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in St. Paul, with family present for visitation at 10am. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance in Mary's memory.
