Mary Josephine Bartz

Mary Josephine Bartz, age 86 of Saint Paul, MN, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026.

Mary was born on February 17, 1940 to Ivar and Mildred Johanson. She was the oldest of four kids. She grew up on a farm in Centerville, MN and attended a one-room schoolhouse. Mary graduated from Wilson High School in Saint Paul. After high school, she had a long career as an administrative assistant, working well into her 70's.

Mary had lots of hobbies. She loved quilting, square dancing, stained glass art, needlepoint, gardening, dogs, garage sale-ing, local traveling during day trips, sewing and upholstery, horseback riding, and lunches with friends.

She was kind, loving, and generous, with quiet determination and independence, and had her sense of humor until the end.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul; sister, Eileen; and close companion of 30 years, Del. She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Kurt) and Brian (Deb); brother, Wes (Carol); grandchildren, Amy (Micah), Rachel (Arthur), Nicholas, and Karissa; four great-grandchildren; and several nephews.

A memorial service will be held, Saturday, August 29, 2026, 11:30 A.M. at Bradshaw, 4600 Greenhaven Drive, White Bear. A visitation will begin one hour prior at 10:30 A.M.. Private interment at Elmhurst Cemetery at a later date.
