Mary Hanson

Mary Ann Hanson, age 84 of Stillwater, passed away on 2/2/2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Stillwater, MN after a short stay. Mary Ann was born January 22, 1932 to Frank and Ann (Evans) Zydorcak in Iron Mountain, MI. The family later moved to Chicago, IL where she attended school. Later the family moved to the Chippewa Falls area where she met Richard Hanson and married him in 1951. Richard passed away on April 6, 1986. Mary Ann worked for several years at the K-Mart store in Eau Claire, WI and for Northwest Fabrics, first in Eau Claire and later moving with the company to Charlotte North Carolina. After she retired, she moved to Stillwater. Mary Ann loved to travel and was equally happy to make local day trips as well as visiting California and Europe. She especially loved fall visits to the North Shore. She had a lifelong interest in crafts and was an avid knitter in her earlier years and then later turned her talents to quilting. Mary Ann was very proud of her grandchildren and actively supported their efforts in sports, activities and higher education. She always urged them to do their best. Mary Ann is survived by her 3 children. Richard of Redwood City, CA, Gail (Ned) Chapman of Stillwater, and Amy (Randy) Krogman of Marshfield, WI. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and her special dog Sweet Pea. She also is survived by several relatives in the Chicago area as well as Florida and Montana.
