Mary (Easton) Liberty, lifelong resident of the Stillwater area, died peacefully June 20 after a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 7, 1943, to Bertha (Edwins) and Phil Easton. She attended Stillwater schools and graduated from Stillwater High School.
She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Liberty, on March 24, 1962. Their marriage was a true partnership, together raising 5 children and for many years working alongside each other at the Easton family newspaper, the Stillwater Evening Gazette, Mary in composition/layout and Bob as editor. When the Gazette was sold, they started their own publication, the Stillwater Courier News, which they owned and operated until their retirement.
In addition to her parents, Bertha and Phil, she was preceded in death by sisters, Judy Johnson and Ann Zorn.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob; loving children, Jim (Amy), Joe, Lisa (Chad) Swan, Lori and Scott; grandchildren, Ben, Jake, Sam, Henry, Abby, Jack, Carly, Noah, Nick, Danny, Glen and Tristan; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Teagan, Mia, Molly and Ginny.
Also survived by sister, Linda, and brother, John (Patricia); in-laws, Kenny, Paul Jr., Betty Peltier, and Pauline Weir; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place Sunday, June 30, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Lowell Inn Banquet Center (102 2nd Street North in Stillwater) . A short memorial will be held beginning at noon.
Memorials preferred to the donor's choice.
