Orlan Youngren

Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away in his home in Stillwater, MN on October 17th, 2022

He was born to Merl and Alice Youngren in Spring Valley, Wisconsin in 1937. He first met his wife-to-be, Rita, while attending Spring Valley High School. After getting a degree in science from the University of River Falls, he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed at Fort Ord in California. Upon being discharged, he relocated to Minnesota and accepted a job at the University of Minnesota. He then dedicated himself to performing research for over 35 years and published multiple articles in his field.

Orlan and Rita were married in 1960, and began their family with a son, Mark, in 1967. Who was later joined by a brother, Eric, in 1972. Eventually, they ended up with 7 grandchildren, Connor, Calvin, Charlie, Lucy, Linus, Maxwell and Emerson, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his wonderful sister Mavis.

Reading was a true passion of his, he especially loved science fiction. And he was skilled at fixing up his old house in Stillwater. He created many cherished memories with those he loved in this beautiful home.

His friends and family are invited to share fun memories and celebrate his life in the way he would want to be remembered, as a happy and loving man who enjoyed life. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater.
