Patrick "Pat" VanKampen

Age 77 of Saint Paul passed away on Sunday, October 1st, 2023.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Rodger and Denny, and his sister Dorothy.

   He will be sadly missed by those who were closest to him; siblings Wanda, Tim, and Terry; many nieces, nephews, children; grandchildren, and beloved friends.

   Patrick was known for his patient and independent nature, a true DIY guy who loved learning how to handle tasks himself. He would always put the need of others above his own and was always understanding. He was a self-proclaimed fair-weather fisherman, loved to bike ride and shoot pool, he was an excellent person to tell about your life as he was always enthusiastic about the accomplishments of others, or guiding them through how to be more positive in life. You could often find Pat taking care of others in any way he could (offering money when people didn't need it, providing end of life care for Rodger, and donating money even when he barely had any), cheering on any Minnesota sport team (Skol Wild!), or taking a longer than necessary drive just to enjoy the ride. He was a thoughtful and open-minded man that put helping others above all else and, to honor him in this way, the family is requesting any memorials to be made out to a charity of their choosing.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 1078 Rice Street on Monday, October 30th at 12p.m. with a subsequent graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
