Zunker, Phyllis Ann of Andover, MN passed away at The Homestead of Anoka after a sudden and brief diagnosis of cancer on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the age of 74.
Born January 1, 1948, to George and Elda Zunker, Phyllis was raised in Browerville, MN, and proudly graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1969 with high scholastic honors earning a BA in Sociology and Political Science. After college, she enjoyed a long and successful career as a social worker and banker, ultimately returning as a social worker for Anoka County until her retirement.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, brother, George of Cheyenne, WY, and brother-in-law, Calvin Pooler of Clarissa, MN.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Alice (Roger) Baron of White Bear Lake, Kathy Pooler of Clarissa, MN, and sister-in-law, Jo Zunker of Cheyenne, WY, 5 nieces, 3 nephews, and many great-nieces/nephews.
At Phyllis’s request, she was cremated and her ashes will be scattered along the shorelines of Lake Vermillion and the St. Croix River. Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family and many lifelong friends, and she will always be remembered as a very intelligent, kind, funny, and caring soul.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids and The Homestead of Anoka, especially her nurses, George and Joanna.
