d. March 26, 2017

Raymond Lloyd Murphy, "Murph", passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2017 at age 98.

Ray, the son of Roy and Anna Murphy, was born in International Falls, Minnesota on November 8th, 1918. Because his father worked on the railroad, Ray constantly changed schools, but graduated from Becker High School in Becker, MN in 1937. He then worked for the WPA, and served in the Army Signal Corps during WWII. Ray then moved to Minneapolis to work at Audio Development Corp. where he met Bernice Wortz.

Ray married Bernice on February 13, 1948. Bernice and Ray had one son, Michael, and two grandchildren, Kayla and Katelyn. Ray had two sisters, Olive Stahl of Virginia, MN and Joyce Anderson of Rapid City, SD.

Ray worked for Minneapolis Moline for 25 years first as a Time Keeper and then as the Manager of the Credit Union. When Minneapolis Moline was bought out by White Farm, the Credit Union merged with Twin City Co-op Credit Union (Spire). He worked for Co-op for 12 years, until his retirement in 1984.

Ray was active for 48 years in the American Legion Court House Post #310 and was a lifetime member. Ray and Bernice were longtime residents of South Minneapolis and currently lived in Eagan. He also enjoyed the time they spent at their cabin near Annandale, MN.

Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bernice; son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Terry; granddaughter, Katelyn; sister, Joyce, and many nieces and nephews.

Private family service will be held at a later date. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
