Rema Gail was born, weighing only 3 pounds, with her twin brother, Raymond Dale, on a small family farm near Arlington, Ohio. She attended Arlington School, and was valedictorian of her high school class. She attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio and received a BS in Education. She taught elementary school for 2 years in Sylvania, Ohio. That is where she met her husband, Angus. She met him in the summer and got married 4 months later in December 1956.
They moved from Sylvania, Ohio to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1958 and lived there until moving to Minnesota in 1967. In 1969, Rema started teaching 2nd and 3rd graders at Houlton Elementary School in Houlton Wisconsin. She bought a guitar and took lessons so she could bring her guitar with her to school and sing folk songs with "her kids". She taught 26 years in Houlton until her retirement in 1995. She then was a substitute teacher in Stillwater and worked part time as an aid in an assisted living facility.
She loved gardening, especially tomatoes, tending plants, animals, traveling and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Angus, parents, Viola and Theron Fink, her twin brother Raymond, sister Dorothy, and brother Kenneth. She is survived by her sister, Ruth, children, Barry MacDonald, Gregor (Carolyn) MacDonald, and Beth Ann (Mark) Richter, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater, on Friday, November 20th, at 11am with a visitation an hour prior.
