A service for Richard Allen Gimmestad of Stillwater, will be held Friday, January 17, 3:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1616 West Olive St., Stillwater. Visitation will be at the church from 1:30 to 3:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will be at Rutheford Cemetery, in Stillwater Township.
Mr. Gimmstad died Tuesday, January 14, at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater.
Richard Allen Gimmestad, was born May 5, 1927 and grew up in Redwood Co., Belview, MN. He earned his Masters Degree at the U of M and taught business education in Amboy, MN, Mineral Point, WI and Stillwater high schools; as well as on the job training at Stillwater HS, and was in charge of the high school's graduation services. After retiring, he taught at Globe Business College, in St. Paul, MN.
He married Audrey Kuck, on June 10, 1950 and they were blessed with two children. Richard was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stillwater for 47 years and was a member of August Donner American Legion Post #309, in Belview, MN.
Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lydia; and sister, Annette.
Survived by wife Audrey; children, Steven (Beth) and granddaughter, Lindsay of Stillwater, and Kay Gimmestad of Hoboken, N.J.; nieces, Peggy Potter of Fargo, ND and Meredith (Don) Jorgenson and their daughters, Sarah and Annie of Grafton, ND.
