Robert J. Addyman Jr., age 91 of Shoreview, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 7/31/25.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; and his wife of 28 years, Gesine; his siblings, Jack (Lois) and Mary Ann Maxwell. He will be deeply missed by his son and daughter, Scott (Michelle) and Cynthia (Anthony); as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

Born and raised in West St. Paul, Robert was the eldest of three siblings, all of whom were born within less than a year of each other. He shared a special bond with his brother, Jack, and their playful, mischievous nature often led to many adventures and shenanigans. They held a deep affection for their younger sister, Mary Ann, whom they loved to tease relentlessly.

Robert’s athletic abilities shone early on as he led his Humboldt High School hockey team to their first Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament as a goalie, even with limited equipment. His prowess continued into his service in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany and earned multiple medals for his expertise in artillery.

He dedicated 38 years of his life to the St. Paul Water Department, where he served as a foreman. Robert was highly respected for his leadership and was recognized for the many projects he oversaw. He and his family settled on the East Side of St. Paul, where he found great fulfillment in coaching hockey for both Battle Creek Playground and the Harding Area Hockey Association.

An avid outdoorsman, Robert loved hunting and fishing. He was a natural athlete, evident in remarkable moments of pure talent, such as when he scored a hole-in-one the first and last time he played golf.

Robert will be remembered for his steadfast leadership, his playful spirit, and his dedication to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
