Robert "Bob" Kamps, age 69, of Bayport, Minnesota, passed away on March 6, 2026.
Bob was born on August 18, 1956, to Gordon and Eldoras (Westermann) Kamps and spent his entire life in Bayport. He grew up alongside his five siblings - Phyllis, Joan, Jean, Steven, and David - in a home full of noise, humor, and competition.
For more than 40 years, Bob worked at Andersen Windows in Bayport. He took great pride in his work and in being part of a company so deeply connected to the community he loved.
The highlight of Bob's life was being a father to his three children: Adam, Morgan, and Heather. He loved being involved in their lives, especially through sports. Bob spent many years coaching youth teams, first as an assistant coach for his son and later as a head coach for his daughters when no one else stepped forward. He had a natural gift for working with kids - keeping practices fun, teaching fundamentals, and building confidence. His teams were known for their energy, their improvement, and, more often than not, their success on the field.
Bob's sense of humor showed up even in the middle of competition. Anyone who played for him remembers his running joke about the infield dirt - "Bob's dirt" - and his good‑natured reminders to young players to stay focused and stay out of it.
A lifelong sports fan, Bob followed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings with unwavering loyalty. Some of his happiest moments were spent watching games with his kids, celebrating the Twins' 1991 World Series win and riding the highs and lows of Vikings seasons together.
Bob also had a deep love for the Minnesota State Fair, a tradition he proudly passed on to his children. He looked forward to it every year and often spent multiple days exploring the fairgrounds, taking in the food, the people, and the atmosphere that made it his favorite annual event.
Animals held a special place in Bob's heart as well. In his later years, he shared a close bond with his cat, Granite, whose companionship brought him comfort and joy.
Bob is survived by his three children; his siblings Phyllis (Dennis), Joan (Jeff), Jean (Jim), Steven (Jenny), and David; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember his humor, his competitive spirit, and the joy he found in coaching, cheering on his teams, and embracing the traditions he loved.
He will be cremated according to his wishes. A visitation will be held on March 22 from 1-4 PM at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center in Stillwater.
