Robert Edward Markling

Robert Edward Markling was born in Monticello, MN on September 14, 1937, to Frank and

Bessie Markling, and died peacefully September 1st, 2026, in Stillwater, MN, at the age of 88,
after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and his siblings Omar, Walter, Floyd, and Jeanne.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughters Melanie and Meredith; his sister, Marian;
and his five grandchildren, Elsa, Max, Lucy, Odin, and Eli.
Bob met Dorothy in Monticello, MN, when she moved there to begin her career in education.
Together they went on to lead an exciting life, relocating around the world as Bob worked
projects in Indiana, Tennessee, New York and other states, along with overseas assignments in
Yugoslavia and France.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He built a successful
career in the power industry, founding his own company, ReMark Management Services, which
built and refueled nuclear power plants.
Bob was known for his zest for life, his quick smile always accompanied by a twinkle in the eye
and his willingness to help others. He lived life to its fullest. Bob hoped to see a grandchild
graduate from high school - a wish he was able to see fulfilled.
Bob didn't want us to be sad when he passed. He wanted us to celebrate a great life. A church
service will be held at Family of Christ Lutheran Church located at 285 County Rd E, Houlton,
WI. Visitation will be from noon to 1pm on Saturday, September 12 th at the church followed by a
memorial service beginning at 1pm. Light snacks will be provided immediately following the
service. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution, the family kindly suggests a
