Roger James Baron

November 14, 1946 — March 20, 2024

Roger James Baron, age 77, of North Oaks/Dellwood, MN, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2024. Roger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice (Zunker); daughter, Jodi (Jeff); son, Cory (Angela); grandchildren, Connor (Erin) and McKenna; sister, Lillian Voges; sister-in-law, Kathy Pooler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed dearly by his beloved buddy, Cacey, who was always by his side the past several years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Susan (Susie) Baron; parents-in-law George and Elda Zunker; siblings, Eli, Richard (Audrey), Matt (Jeanette), Shirley (Jack), Darlene (Leonard); sister-in-law, Phyllis Zunker; and brothers-in-law, George Zunker (Jo), Calvin Pooler, and Bob Voges; nephew Duane Voges; and niece Sandy Voges.

Roger was born on November 14, 1946, in Browerville, MN, the 7th child of Stanley and Susie Baron. He was married to Alice (Zunker) on February 17, 1968, and moved to the Twin Cities to raise their family and start their construction business in 1970 which ultimately led to his legacy in the housing market with developments in Oakdale, Mahtomedi, White Bear Lake, Woodbury, and Dellwood.

Roger deeply loved his family and prioritized their future and well-being above all. He has always been a hardworking man and was driven to ensure his children and grandchildren were set up to succeed in life with a foundation of hard work, loyalty, honesty, and perseverance. For that, we will always be grateful!

In addition to his countless hours of hard work over the years, Roger also knew how to have a good time. He has always loved fast cars, rebuilding collector cars (Ford Model T, 1958 Chevy Impala, 1963 Plymouth Fury), hunting, fishing, trap shooting, watching Fox News and Barrett Jackson's auctions, and having a few beers with the guys while playing a couple games of cribbage. He also took immense pride in sharing his knowledge and wisdom with his grandson, Connor, from the time he was a toddler up until the day before his untimely passing. These are the fond memories we will cherish and find comfort in during this difficult time.

Roger was an unassuming and private man who wanted no attention or recognition in life nor in death, and he specifically requested there to be nothing more than a simple and brief announcement upon his passing. To honor Roger's wishes, a private family gathering will be held at the original family farm in Browerville, MN, at a later date. Additionally, there will be a small gathering of Roger's fishing buddies at the family cabin on Lake Vermilion in May.
