Roland Lundstrom was born on March 11, 1927 to Oscar and Hulda Lundstrom in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was the oldest of two children. After graduation from Columbia Heights High School, he served in the US Navy near the end of WW2. He then attended the University of Minnesota earning a degree in Civil Engineering. He subsequently worked for the State of Minnesota Highway Department in bridge design for over 30 years. Roland married his wife of 38 years, Edith Hopkins, on February 11, 1950. They raised two children in Richfield, Minnesota and later moved to Lindstrom, Minnesota. His last years were spent in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Roland chose to serve God after his discharge from the Navy. He had a strong faith in God and encouraged his children and grandchildren to serve God. He spent significant time creating “dad” activities and later “grampa” activities making him beloved by all. He enjoyed watching kids baseball, hunting, fishing, woodworking, chess and other activities with friends and family.
Roland died on June 20, 2022 He is survived by sons, Richard (Jill) and Robert (Sheri); grandchildren, Forrest (Kelly) Lundstrom, Blake (Rachel) Lundstrom, Andrea (Andrew) Wright, Jennifer (Aaron) Locke, and Eric (Amber) Lundstrom; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Muriel Swanson; 1 niece, 1 nephew, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service Tuesday July 5, 11:00 A.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 4600 Greenhaven Drive, White Bear. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Center City.
