Roxann Jane Chase (née Hoffoss), age 80, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Stillwater, Minnesota. Born on March 25, 1944, in Houston, Texas, Roxann lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, humor, positivity, and unwavering dedication to others. Roxann pursued her calling in healthcare with determination and heart. After earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Hennepin Community College and passing her nursing boards to become a Registered Nurse, she embarked on a rewarding career that spanned numerous specialties. Her work touched countless lives across psychiatric care, intensive care units, geriatrics, labor and delivery, burn units, home care, triage services, and more. Her versatility and commitment to patient care left a lasting impact on those she served and worked alongside.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Roxie was a woman of many talents and passions and she was more than generous with those. She found joy in painting and drawing, baking and cooking, singing with warmth and spirit, pressing flowers into delicate keepsakes, and creating beautiful pieces of art from whatever materials she had at hand. Her creativity was boundless and reflected the vibrant energy she brought into every space she entered. She truly enjoyed sharing her creations with friends, family, and even people she didn’t know through selling her wares at local craft shows.
A lifelong Episcopalian and devoted member of Ascension Episcopal Church in Stillwater, MN, Roxie sang for many years in the church choir. It was one thing that sustained her. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life and a source of strength during both joyful and challenging times. Yes, she had challenges, but she never let them bring her down. She could always find her way to joy. Resilience was one of her abiding strengths.
Roxann’s love for her family was deep and enduring. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Brandon Chase and his wife, Sandy; their children, Josie, Josh, Greg; thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She will forever be loved and remembered by her daughter, Laura Englander and Laura’s children, Jack and Lila. Roxann is survived by her sisters, Renie Wilson (husband, Mike) and Sally Cabbell; brothers, Tom Hoffoss (wife, Debra) and Neal Hoffoss; as well as sister-in-law, Faye Hoffoss. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mary Helen Hoffoss and John (Jack) Nelson Hoffoss; and her brother, Peter Hoffoss.
A memorial service celebrating Roxie’s vibrant life will be held on May 10, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at Ascension Episcopal Church, 214 3rd St N., Stillwater, Minnesota with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. The service will include music, prayer, family remembrances, and the fellowship of friends who were touched by her generous spirit.
Roxie will be remembered for her loving nature, giving heart, generosity of spirit, quick wit, sunny disposition through thick and thin—and for the beauty she brought into the world through both her healing hands as a nurse and her creative soul as an artist. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ascension Episcopal Church for “The Erickson Plaza” --a gathering place for the entire community. Please include The Erickson Plaza in the memo.
