Samuel James Wood

Jan 7, 1992 — Sep 8, 2026

Stillwater, MN

Sam very unexpectedly passed away in his sleep the morning of September 8th after months of battling a seizure disorder that he was overcoming and was returning to work and feeling good.

Sam was born on January 7th 1992 to Trenton "Jamie" and Mary Ann Wood, and was the youngest of their four beautiful children. Sam completed their family, joining big brothers Michael and Ben and sister Danielle. When Sam was a young boy, he was always right there underfoot. He was often found scaling their fence to follow his siblings down the block to go play with friends. Sam was an adventurous little boy with a heart of gold and the sweetest smile. He loved to draw and paint with his Mom, go on bike rides and treasure hunts with his dad and play games and be with his older siblings. Sam spent a lot of time with grandparents and loved to be with his family.

Sam attended Saint Croix Catholic elementary, Oak Park Elementary, Oakland Jr high and Graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 2010 with PSEO credits.

Sam worked as a custodian for the SAHS school district for many years before moving over to the United States Postal Service as a RCA (Rural Carrier Assistant). Sam was a hard worker and was dedicated to everything he did.

Sam was an avid gamer and was an incredibly talented artist, he loved to be outside and go on long walks with his family at Arcola Trail. Sam was passionate about art and loved to create and draw, especially with his daughter up until he passed. His favorite thing was to be with his kids and make them laugh.

On September 7th, 2018, Sam married the love of his life Kyrsten in a beautiful farm ceremony in rural WI. Together they built a beautiful life and welcomed their daughter Everly in August of 2020 and later their son Barrett in June of 2023. Sam and Kyrsten met at work in 2012 and quickly became inseparable and have been a couple since 2013. They loved to be together and with their kids, loved to go to concerts, be outside, watch movies, and play games. Their absolute favorite thing was to go to the MN Renaissance festival together. They would go twice-once as a couple to celebrate their Anniversary and later with their kids as a family and with other family as well.

Sam had the most gentle big heart and loved his entire family above everything else.

Sam is preceded in death by Grandparents, Wilfred and Evelyn Buhl.
