Sandra Guidry

d. April 24, 2025

Inver Grove Heights, MN

Sandra Tolbert Guidry, age 67, was born to a single mother in Newark, New Jersey. She grew up there, and, at a very young age, started her relationship with Jesus at Greater Bethel Baptist Church. She attended Robert Treat Elementary grade school and graduated from Weequahic High School in 1976. From 1976-1977 she earned a Certificate in Executive Secretarial Skills from Roberts-Walsh Business School, Union, NJ. After that, Sandra was hired for her first full-time job as secretary of the Audio-Visual Center at Rutgers University - Newark campus. While there she attended classes, part-time, at night, studying courses in accounting, financial and managerial.

In July of 1980, Sandra started her long and successful 40+ years career with Northwest Airlines. She moved to Minnesota in August of 1987, making Inver Grove Heights her home the majority of her years in Minnesota. She started attending Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington during the mid 90's, finally becoming a member in 2005. Sandra's years with the airlines took her to places she never dreamed possible while growing up in Newark, and allowed her to meet people from all walks of life; most of whom would become lifelong friends.

In August of 2009, Sandra would meet the love of her life, Brett Guidry. They were married in Georgia, July 19, 2010. Together Brett and Sandra would enjoy a near perfect, devoted, loving, faith filled relationship. They loved being with family and friends, walks around the lakes, traveling (especially road trips to Presidential Libraries and visiting museums), but mainly they loved just hanging out with each other.

Sandra finally retired from her airline career with Delta Airlines, permanently in December 2022. She spent her final years meeting her retired colleagues for breakfast, lunch, or happy hour; attending classes at the Eagan YMCA, and volunteering when possible at Cedar Valley. She would also do her best version of "Donna Reed," to be a good wife to her husband.

Sandra in preceded in death by her devoted and hard-working mother, Retha Tolbert; her sister, Yetta Tolbert; mother-in-law, Anne Cato; father-in-law, Allen Guidry II; four uncles and three aunts. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Brett; sister-in-law, Debbie Larkins (Philip); brothers-in-law Allen Guidry III (Bobbie) and Craig Guidry (Roxanne); 3 nieces, 1 nephew. 4 grandnieces, 4 grandnephews; and a huge network of cousins and friends.
