Sandra Kay Kuchenmeister

Sandra Kay Kuchenmeister, known lovingly as Sandy and to her cherished grandchildren, as Ahmma, passed away on September 25th, 2026 following her courageous battle with lymphoma and heart failure at the age of 82.

Sandy was one of a kind - a woman with a quick wit, a loving heart, a creative soul, and an adventurous spirit that could never be contained. She lived life in her own way, with style, humor, and a genuine love for the people and things that brought her joy.

If Sandy wasn't making memories with the people she loved, you could often find her out looking for her next adventure. She loved camping, four-wheeling, and the freedom of being outdoors. Her camper was her happy place, a place where she could relax, escape the everyday, and simply enjoy life. And when it came to four-wheeling, Sandy wasn't exactly known for taking it easy. She loved nothing more than getting out ahead of everyone and making them "eat her dust." It was just her way of having fun-and she did it with a smile.

Sandy was also an extremely artistic and creative woman. She loved to paint and draw, expressing herself through her artwork and leaving behind pieces of her creativity for others to cherish. She had an eye for beauty and a wonderful sense of personal style. Fashionable, spirited, and never afraid to be herself, Sandy brought her own flair wherever she went.

But perhaps what defined Sandy most was the love she had for her family, friends, and animals. She was deeply caring and had a way of making the people around her feel loved. Her beloved dog, Dakota, held an especially treasured place in her heart. Dakota had since passed away, but Sandy treated him like her child, and the bond they shared was one of the many beautiful examples of the depth of her love.

Sandy is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Wilma and Antone Stempel.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Vining and Kristy Hines (Lamont); three grandchildren, Josh Shoeller (Heidi), Amy Nelson (James) and Kayla Strautz (David); two great-grandchildren, Millie & Stella Strautz; and her six siblings, Donnie Johnson, Tony Stempel, Patsy Pahl (Fred), Ron Stempel (Bonnie), Bobbi (Robert), and Debbi Audorff (Roger); along with extended family and many friends who loved her dearly.

Sandy's passing leaves an enormous space in the lives of those who knew her. Her family will remember her laughter, her wit, her creativity, her fashionable spirit, and the countless adventures and memories she gave them. They will remember the woman who loved deeply, cared fiercely, created beautifully, and never passed up the opportunity to have a little fun. Though her earthly adventures have come to an end, the memories she created will continue with the people she loved.

Sandy will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call her Mom, Ahmma, sister, family, and friend.

A Celebration of Life for Sandy Kay Kuchenmeister will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Bradshaw, 4600 Greenhave Drive, White Bear, Minnesota. A time of sharing will begin at 3:00 PM.
