Scott Robert Grover passed away unexpectedly at his home in Stillwater, MN on June 5th, 2026 at the age of 71. He was born to Pauline (Mickey) and Max R. Grover in Reedsburg, Wisconsin in 1955. He was the youngest of four brothers (David, Thomas, and Richard), all of whom he looked up to and learned from throughout his life.
From an early age, Scott proved himself to be a true Renaissance man, landing himself a myriad of odd jobs, business ventures and projects to occupy his adolescent years. His relentless trailblazing and tireless work-ethic helped to put himself through college at the University of Wisconsin, Stout, where he achieved a BA in Psychology, which he used to great effect during his long-term career as a Data Systems Architect. In addition to the long hours dedicated to work and school throughout his college years, he still managed to find time for countless sleepless nights playing sheepshead with his lifelong buddies. He continued this tradition of weekend card playing gatherings with this cherished crew throughout his years.
In 1981, he met his wife Cathleen, and followed her to Minnesota soon after, landing himself in what would become his forever home with his life-long companion. Scott and Cathleen married in 1983 and spent the next few years splitting their time between full-time jobs, managing a 60- unit apartment complex, and wherever they could, enjoying the little things in life, such as their love of tennis, boating, and time spent with beloved friends.
After the birth of their first daughter, Hana, they bought a duplex and moved to Stillwater, MN, while simultaneously planning their next adventure. After the birth of their second daughter, Elise, they bought a parcel of land in town to build a home. It turned into a four-year project and led Scott to become quite the lumberjack as he cleared and developed what is now known as the "Glove Addition". Their son Max was born shortly after they moved into their new home, where Scott would live out the rest of his days as a loving father whose generosity and sense of humor knew no bounds.
Scott was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and a local youth VAA baseball, basketball and football coach. Anyone who visited the Grover house also came to appreciate his love of listening to classic rock and other tunes while indulging in some of his favorite games, including pool, horseshoes, bags, bocce ball, kubb, Connect Four, Password, Jeopardy! and innumerable card games. Scott was also known as a lover of dogs, an outdoor enthusiast, a whitewater adventurer, a mediocre comedian, and most of all, a dedicated father, husband and friend who will be most deeply missed, loved and always remembered.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his eldest brother, David, and his sister-in-law Gillian. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen, his children, Hana, Elise and Max, his son-in-law David, his beloved grandchildren, Charlotte and Dorien, his brothers Tom (Bette) and Rick, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark (Suzie) Hines, Tom Clynch, John (Kristie) Clynch, Paul (Holly) Clynch, and Melanie (Ted) Stocke. He will be joining his family's resting place in WI in a private ceremony. A memorial and final farewell on the St. Croix river is planned for family and friends at a later date.
