In Loving Memory of Sharon Prohofsky
October 13, 1946 - May 30, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sharon Prohofsky, who peacefully departed this life on May 30, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in Saint Paul, Minnesota, at the age of 79.
Sharon was born on October 13, 1946, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Audrey Prohofsky and Clarence Jarvis. She was born alongside her twin sister, Shirley Coleman. Sharon was the loving mother of one daughter, SherryAnn Prohofsky, who preceded her in death at the age of 40. Though she experienced the profound loss of her only child, Sharon carried her daughter's memory and love with her throughout her life.
A lifelong resident of Saint Paul, Sharon was known for her strength, determination, and independent spirit. She worked for many years as a housekeeper, taking pride in her work and approaching life with resilience and dignity. Later in life, Sharon suffered a stroke that affected her mobility, but she continued to face each day with courage and perseverance.
In 2018, Sharon became a resident of a nursing home, where she remained until her passing. While many people might have felt alone in similar circumstances, Sharon was blessed to have a family built through love rather than blood.
One of the greatest chapters of Sharon's life began in 2016 when she met Leonna Gresham. What started as a friendship quickly grew into a bond that would last for the remainder of Sharon's life. Leonna and her children welcomed Sharon into their family with open hearts, ensuring she always had love, support, companionship, and a place where she belonged.
Over the years, Sharon became much more than a friend. She became family. Together they shared birthdays, holidays, meals, laughter, road trips, and countless Sunday visits. During difficult times and joyful moments alike, Leonna and her children remained faithfully by Sharon's side, making sure she knew she was loved, valued, and never forgotten.
Even after entering the nursing home, Sharon continued to receive regular visits, food, clothing, snacks, companionship, and unwavering support. Through every season of her life, she was reminded that she mattered and that she was deeply loved by those who had chosen her as family.
Sharon had a remarkable ability to accept people as they were. She was kind, understanding, and never quick to judge. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and loving heart touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She taught those around her that family is not always defined by blood, but by loyalty, compassion, and the people who continue to show up when it matters most.
Though Sharon endured great loss throughout her life, including the passing of her beloved daughter, she continued to share kindness and love with others. Her strength was quiet but powerful, and her life serves as a reminder that even the smallest acts of love can leave the greatest impact.
Today, we find comfort in knowing that Sharon has been reunited with her daughter, SherryAnn, and with the loved ones who went before her.
Sharon leaves behind a legacy of resilience, friendship, unconditional love, and gratitude. She will be forever cherished and deeply missed by Leonna Gresham and her children, her caregivers, friends, neighbors, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness and presence.
Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her, in the stories they share, and in the lessons she taught simply by being herself.
"Family isn't always the people you're born to. Sometimes it's the people who choose to love you, stand beside you, and make sure you never walk alone."
Rest peacefully, Sharon.
You were loved, you were valued, and you will never be forgotten.
