Shawn William Tratnik

Age 45, passed away on September 29, 2026.

Shawn was born on November 17, 1980, in Edina, Minnesota. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Above all else, Shawn was someone who loved deeply and found his greatest happiness in the people he shared his life with.

Shawn is survived by his mother, Dianna (Doug) Bauman of Tomah, Wisconsin; his son, Collin Tratnik of Forest Lake, Minnesota; his daughter, Haley Smith of Hudson, Wisconsin; and his sister, Jamie (Tim) Cram of Tomah, Wisconsin. He was a beloved uncle to Silas and Nora Cram.

He is also survived by his beloved great-aunts, Linda (Robert) Stump, Jean (Larry) Hess, and Lois Tratnik, as well as his cousins Jeffery, Tammie, Sarah, Johnathan, Nicole, Rebecca, and Elizabeth, with whom he cherished countless laughs, stories, and good times.

Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stephen and Anastasia Tratnik and Catherine (Peggy) Erickson; his uncle, Paul Tratnik; and Mandy Nordstrom.

If there was one thing Shawn knew how to do, it was to get up and go bright and early! He loved being outside and was always ready for the next adventure. Beach days, fairs, car shows, hockey, skating, walks around the lake-Shawn was happiest when he was out doing something. And, if us kids were lucky, it ended with him putting a steak on the grill. He had a passion for music and concerts (especially Lady Gaga). He loved to travel, experience new places, and learn about the local cultures wherever his adventures took him. Shawn was curious about the world and never needed much convincing when an opportunity to go somewhere or try something new came along. But as much as Shawn loved adventure, his favorite place was always with his family. He enjoyed game nights and playing cards, and even a little girl talk with the cousins. Shawn will be remembered as the goofy and fun guy always ready to make you laugh.

Nothing meant more to Shawn than his children. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with Collin and Haley, whether they were off on a big adventure or simply enjoying an ordinary day together. He was always willing to try something new, even when it's a dangerous endeavor of e-bike riding. The destination never mattered as much as the fact that they were together.

Shawn took great pride in his work as a painter. He truly was the best of the best-and he had absolutely no problem pointing out every mistake in your house before offering to fix it...maybe. He was proud of his workmanship and took his role as a leader seriously. More importantly, he cared about the people he worked with and deeply cared about his crew and their well being. And when the workday was over, Shawn had another skill he had perfected: late-night online shopping.

Those who knew Shawn will remember his big personality, energy, humor, adventurous spirit, and ability to turn ordinary moments into memories. They will remember the concerts, the travels, the game nights, the family gatherings, the laughs, the adventures, and all the little moments in between. His greatest legacy will be the love he gave to his children and family and the memories he leaves behind. Though he is no longer here to join in the next adventure, the love he gave and the memories he left behind will remain forever.

Collin and Haley will be accepting donations at the funeral for unexpected costs or they can be sent to Bradshaw.

Visitation, Friday, October 16, 2026, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater.
