Steven Daryl Johnson

Sep 9, 1946 — Aug 27, 2026

Steven Daryl Johnson, born September 9, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Walter C. and Doris Johnson (née Renslow), passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, with his family lovingly by his side.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Marjory Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Johnson (née Ruprecht); his children, Jenney Grundstrom (Kevin), Mattheus Johnson (Veronica), and Stephanie Salomonsen (Jimme); his grandchildren, Madison and Cody Grundstrom, and Austin Johnson; and his sister, Yvonne Ghame.

Steve grew up in Minnesota and attended Wayzata High School before continuing his education at the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Dental School.
He dedicated more than fifty years to serving the Stillwater community as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. His skill, compassion, and steady presence earned the trust of generations of patients and families.

Steve embraced the outdoors with passion. His hunting journeys took him across the United States and around the world-from Africa to Europe to Russia. He was also a gifted sailor, both in racing and cruising, and a proud member of the St. Croix Sailing Club. Whether navigating open water or exploring remote landscapes, Steve approached every challenge with confidence and joy. He also cherished time on the golf course as a longtime member of Indian Hills Golf Club in Lake Elmo.

Steve's Christian faith was the foundation of his life. He served as a Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) group leader for more than a decade and remained actively involved in multiple Bible study groups throughout his life. His quiet strength, humility, and devotion touched everyone who knew him.

Steve will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, love of adventure, and the deep pride he carried for his family. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the family who loved him dearly.
