Susan Langness

December 1, 1940 — July 3, 2025

Susan Jean Langness (Zabel), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland Zabel and Clytie Thoreson; her stepfather, Orlie (Marji) Thoreson; her sister, Sandy Burger; and her beloved twin sister, Helen Anderson, who was her "other half."

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Wayne; her children, Tim, Angie (Keith) Valento, and Josh (Katy); her grandchildren, Jesse (Alex) Domek, Allison (Michael) Milligan, Summer (Ben) Finnegan, Joseph Valento, and Valerie Valento; her great-grandchildren, Archer and Chesney; her brother, David (Sally) Zabel; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Susan worked at Andersen Window Corporation for nine years before stepping away to embrace her most treasured role - being a full-time mother and devoted wife. Later, she returned to work as a para at Withrow Elementary School, where she brought warmth, patience, and kindness into the classroom.

She was known for her gentle spirit and the way she made everyone feel at home. She had a deep love for her family and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether she was out shopping, enjoying lunch dates, or simply sharing a laugh, Susan's presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. Her quick wit, generous heart, and unwavering love will be remembered always.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace, and cherished memories that will live on through all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Oak Park Heights Senior Living for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they showed Susan. Their support and dedication meant the world to her and to all who loved her.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater, Minnesota, on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m.

As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing she is now somewhere over the rainbow - a place she always believed in - full of peace, light, and love.
