Teresa Kay (Hagen) Chuckna

Jul 13, 1965 — Jun 23, 2026

Teresa Kay Chuckna, age 61, passed away after a courageous 14-year battle with ovarian cancer on June 23, 2026, at her home in Stillwater, Minnesota, surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Janet Hagen; grandnephew Aaron Puente; and grandparents Edgar & Helen Gustafson and Leonard & Jean Hagen.

She is survived by her husband Tom; son Mark and daughter Cassie; father Bill Hagen; sister Vicky Bradford and brother Tim (Jodi) Hagen; half-brother Thor (Joline) Swanson; nephew Andre Bradford; and nieces Marcia Puente, Tanisha Bradford, and Aubrey Hagen.

Teresa was an incredibly kind-hearted, vivacious person who loved helping others. She spent her career as a dedicated case manager and social worker, helping the vulnerable and advocating for those in need. She was a founding board member of the List Family Foundation, whose many donations and contributions helped create the Rosa Foundation in England, the UK's first nationwide fund supporting women and girls.

Anyone who knew Teresa would tell you how beautiful she was, inside and out. She had an unforgettable laugh and an incredible sense of style, with a particular fondness for leopard print. She loved the outdoors and being active, whether she was camping, hiking, taking walks, cooking, or traveling. Teresa met her husband Tom through a blind date arranged by her friend Melinda in 1997. After their marriage in 2001, the two shared an enduring love for nearly 25 years, with Tom remaining a steady presence at Teresa's side in all seasons of life. They enjoyed frequent date nights together at the Brookside Bar & Grill, often joined by her best friend Cindy. Over the years, Teresa's fun-loving big brother Tim had taken to calling her "Cass" as a nickname-which must have stuck, because she passed a version of the name on to her daughter. Teresa loved her children Mark and Cassie more than life, and treasured every moment they spent together as a family. She always had a special place in her heart for dachshunds, and adored her beloved dogs Minnie and Maizy.

Teresa was a longtime patient of the gynecologic oncology department at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and would like to thank Dr. John J. Weroha for his care while she was a patient there. She remained fiercely positive and strong through her cancer journey. She never allowed her illness to define her and she never, ever gave up. Teresa was a warrior in every sense of the word, and she lived a life she was proud of: full of generosity, gratitude, and love.

While Teresa's earthly body may be gone, her spirit will always be with us-on the gentle breeze of a beautiful summer day; in the inviting aroma of a cozy kitchen; or among the waves lapping on the shore of a sandy beach. We will never forget her and the profound impact she had on everyone who knew her.

We love you, Teresa.
