Tim Patrick

April 30, 1954—December 24, 2021

Timothy was born to Steven and Pearl (Soman) Patrick in Saint Paul on April 30, 1954. The third born of four, Tim enjoyed a childhood of travel, Lebanese and Ukrainian family traditions, and getting into hilarious mischief with his brothers—neighbors are still telling stories. He was very active in the student body, sports and theater program and graduated from South Saint Paul High School Class of 1972.

He met the love of his life Sally (Schattschneider) at a Willy and the Bees concert in Minneapolis. He and Sally married in Algona, IA in 1980. They had three brown-eyed daughters and spent the years laughing together.

Tim Patrick was loved so much by his family. He was generous, kind, and loved to enjoy all the beauty the world has to offer. He loved sharing the natural world with his family through visits to state parks, road trips, and travels. He loved spending time with his uncles and brothers at their weekly Brothers’ Night where they hashed through current events over pickled herring and wine. He was gregarious and funny, and was known in inner circles as “The Big Noise.”  He was athletic and creative, a good giver of advice, and a thinker and problem solver. He always made people feel welcome and at ease. He had a great smile and a gentle voice. He showed everyone the true meaning of “All You Need Is Love.”

Tim worked as Technical Engineer for Medtronic for over 20 years where he contributed to two patents. In his free time, he could often be found strumming on his guitar or drawing in his sketchbook. He loved classic movies and musicals. He handmade Halloween costumes for himself and the whole family. He loved seeing live music and had an enviable record collection that spanned all genres. He had a memory for music trivia. He coached hockey and soccer. He beamed with pride to support his girls’ art shows, dance performances, and visits at college. He enjoyed camping, spending time at the family’s lake, and his annual trip to the Boundary Waters. He enjoyed get-togethers and travel with dear friends.

Tim Patrick passed away at the side of his wife and family on the evening of December 24th. He lived with Parkinson’s for over 20 years and a late stage prognosis of Lewy Body Dementia. We encourage friends and family to learn more about Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia by visiting: http://www.lbda.org

Tim is preceded in death by his father, Steven, his mother, Pearl, and his brother, Joe Patrick. He is survived by his wife, Sally, daughters Jehra Patrick (Kla Haeck), Stesha Volkart (Andy), and Natalie Anderson (Ryan), and his grandchildren Edith; Louis and Nina; and Halvin, Rosemary, and Quentin. He is also survived by his sister Debra Kesser (John), his brother Bill Patrick (Laurie), Aunt Marion “Mitzi” Soman, Uncle Robert Soman, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
