Age 78 of Saint Paul passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Rosanne; sibling, Jerry Kassekert; and his parents, Doris and Anthony Kassekert.

Vern will be deeply missed by his children, Julie (Joe) Fittante, Tricia (Ron) Armstrong, and Kevin (Rebecca) Kassekert; grandchildren, Talia, Joie, Tommy, Jillian, Sydney, Kai and Vivienne; his beloved sister, Mary (Vetter); his bestie and niece, Annette (Vetter); and many beloved nephews, nieces, friends and family.

Vern was born on December 23, 1946 and was the oldest of 3 children. He was born and raised on the East Side of St Paul attending Sacred Heart St. John's School in St Paul and later Hill High School. Following high school, he attended the University of MN where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. It was there that he met his true love, Rosanne. They married on June 14, 1969 and later moved to White Bear Lake where they raised their 3 children. Vern began his career as a pharmacist, first at Borgstrom Pharmacy in St Paul and later moving onto Walgreens as both a staff pharmacist and a district pharmacy supervisor.

Vern loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren who endearingly called him "Boppa." He was a man of steadfast faith known for advocating for those the world overlooked. He spent many of his retired years volunteering at Keystone Community Services, a local food shelf. He had a sharp and clever sense of humor and often entertained his family and friends with his love of jokes, playful pranks and quick wit.

A memorial service for Vern will take place at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 4600 Greenhaven Drive, White Bear, MN, on Saturday, December 20th at 11am with a visitation beginning at 10:00am. Vern will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights with a private family service.
