Vivian Guse

Vivian Guse (nee Bixby), age 97 of Stillwater, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Laina; husband, William; siblings, Del, Charles, Jeanette, Donny; great-granddaughter, Jraya McGinnis. She will be deeply missed by those who survive her: children, William, Roger, David (Mary); 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A longtime resident of Withrow, Vivian ran the post office, attached to her home. Later, she and Bill opened Bill’s Bar, and steadily grew the enterprise, adding a liquor license, gas pumps, and general store. Beyond growing the business, they created a community. In later years, Vivian and Bill ‘retired’ to Las Vegas, enjoying warm weather and working in casinos. Vivian returned to Stillwater in 2013 to be nearer her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Memorial service will be 11:00am Friday, July 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 609 S 5^th St, Stillwater, with visitation two hours prior. Memorials preferred to the Minnesota Society for the Blind.
