Age 90 of Stillwater
Passed away on April 26, 2023. Walter was a lifelong resident of Stillwater, MN. He graduated from Stillwater High School and was a celebrated track athlete. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, in service to his country during the Korean War. Walter spent his career working as a Probation and Parole Officer for the Minnesota Department of Corrections and Ramsey County.
Walter was an avid stamp collector and member of the German Philatelic Society for over 50 years. Walter loved the game of golf and was a member of both New Richmond Golf Course and Stillwater Country Club. After he put down the clubs, Walter spent his time gardening and took pride in his State Fair blue-ribbon award-winning hostas.
Walter is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet Lee. He is survived by his children, Mark (Jennifer) and Lisa (Kurt) Zaspel; grandchildren, Aaron, Annelise (Andy), and Judd; great-granddaughter, Leila; niece, Kathy (Louie) Autrey. A Celebration of Walter’s Life will be held at 6pm on Friday, May 12th at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
