Passed away on February 22, 2017
Preceded in death by loving husband of 68 years, Raymond Buechner, and grandson, William Richard Buechner.
Survived by children William J. (Sharon), Mary Joy Winkels (Michael) and Elena Dorr (Gary); grandchildren Elena Rogers (Richard), Teresa Christenson (Eric), Angela Easterwood (David), Christopher Winkels (Shannon), Raymond Winkels (Taissa), Michael Winkels (Becky), Christina Dorr (fiancAC. Russell Drake) and Elena Zienda (Bartosz); 12 great grandchildren.
Wilhelmina, or Willie as everyone called her, was an incredibly bright and determined person who was empathetic, nurturing and truly cared about her family and friends. Even though in later years she suffered from spinal stenosis and failing eyesight, she continued to stay strong. She credited her long life with sports, staying active and eating two pieces of dark chocolate a day. She especially enjoyed riding horses, swimming, golf, bowling, and spending time at the lake.
When WWII started, Wilhelmina volunteered at the Elks Club in her hometown of New York City where she met Raymond. After attending business school, she worked as a bank teller on Wall Street, was quickly promoted to head teller, and then auditor. She quit her job when she got married, but always encouraged her children and grandchildren to go for their dreams. Throughout most of her life, you could count on her for a generous portion of delicious home cooked food, lively conversation about current events, and words of wisdom. Willie dearly loved her husband Raymond, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was fond of reminding us all to be thankful for all of our blessings, and that the Lord had been good to her.
