Albert Wilmer “Will” Carlson

Will Carlson, age 79, of Afton, MN, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2022, after courageously battling cancer.

Will had a generous heart and lived an extraordinary life. He left a mark on all who were blessed to know him.

Will was born in Pennsylvania, in 1943, and graduated from Washington High School in St. Paul Class of 1961.

In 1969, working with a ladder and a beat-up panel truck, Will started a tiny drywall business. After years of hard work and perseverance, his company, Custom Drywall, Inc., is one of the most highly respected commercial drywall contractors in the industry.

Beyond Custom Drywall, Will's interests were many and varied, making every day an unpredictable adventure. He was an accomplished bow hunter, a lifelong softball player, a golfer, and an avid real estate investor. He enjoyed auctions and the thrill of finding a deal. In the summer, he played and managed the Roseville Senior Softball Team in Minnesota, and in the winter, he played for Collier County in Florida. He enjoyed the company of his many friends and was rarely seen alone.

Will treasured his wife, Sandra, his children, and grandchildren. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Will is preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer Carlson and Lucy (Matuseski) Carlson, and his sister Vivian Walsh.

Will leaves behind his loving wife Sandra, his children, Troy (Julie), Todd (Amy), and Nikole, grandchildren: Trevor, Katie, Sydney, Brett, and Marin, stepchildren: Michael (Adrian)Wilson, Mandie (John) DeVries, grandchildren: Beau, Elisa, Evan, Jase, sister: Judy Behnke and many close friends.

One of Will's final wishes was to extend a huge "Thank you" to everyone who came across him in pleasure and business. Will touched a lot of people’s lives and will be missed by many. The family will announce a Celebration in honor of Will's life at a later date.

Private interment at Calvary Cemetery in St. Paul, MN.
