David Irving Carlsen “Dave”
Age 91 of Stillwater, MN died in his sleep November 15. He was born November 29,1930 in Chicago to Axel Marinus Carlsen and Esther Marie Axelsen Carlsen. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margy; and his 2 sisters, Greta (Pip) Long and Janet (Ted) Brooke. He is survived by his sister, Becky (Vern) Marlin; and his 3 children, Daniel Carlsen, Diana Carlsen, Karen (Pete) McDougall; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Dave was united in marriage to Marguerite Agnes Preus Jensen on December 17, 1952 in Meridian, MS. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI and his Master’s Degree in Public Accounting from the University of MN. Dave was a fighter pilot during the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling, golf, flying airplanes, Ole and Lena jokes, Culver’s Butter Burgers, and the occasional vodka martini. Dave was a Freemason and also member of both Knights of Columbus and Rotary Club organizations. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 609 5th St. S., in Stillwater MN on Wednesday, November 23rd at 10:30am. Visitation will begin at 9:30am at the Church and lunch will follow the service. Dave’s interment will be at Fort Snelling in the spring.
