Lennart was born and raised in south Minneapolis and lived most of his life in the Cedar Riverside and Seward neighborhoods. He graduated from South High School in 1943 and entered the Navy after graduation. He served as an Aviation Ordnanceman in the Pacific until discharge in 1946. Len attended the Minneapolis School of Art (later MCAD) and completed classes in 1949. Years later it was determined that those taking classes at that time had completed studies in line with college courses and he and other classmates were awarded Bachelor of Arts degrees. After working for private firms he settled into working for the State of Minnesota. Len worked 32 years as a graphic artist for the State in the Departments of Health, Transportation and finally for the Pollution Control Agency. Len also used his artistic talents as a skilled woodcarver creating many treasured items for his family and friends and earning ribbons at the State Fair. After retiring he and Verna Mae travelled extensively. They moved to the SummerHouse in Shoreview after 40 years in the Seward neighborhood, and from Shoreview to Lyngblomsten. After Verna Mae passed away in 2017 Len moved to Cherrywood Pointe in Roseville.
