Mary Monice (Dubé) Strom (November 23, 1935–May 3, 2021), a beloved mother was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Strom, MD., and is survived by their children Claudia (Stephen) Bradley, Grant (Andrea) Strom, David (Lynna) Strom, Jennifer (James) Bergin, Gregory Strom, Laura (Brian) Wondergem, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and countless friends.
Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy (1953) and Marquette University (1958) with a degree in medical technology. Family and children became her priorities as a mother. She was a tireless volunteer primarily with her children’s schools and was a past president of the St. Thomas Academy Mothers’ Club.
Beyond family, Mary had a wide range of interests, including a refined appreciation for literature, antiques, travel, architecture, and music, and especially the Metropolitan and Santa Fe Operas. If she wasn’t traveling or visiting her children and grandchildren, she would be reading a book for her long-time book club, seeing films, and dining with friends.
Mary focused much of her energy, time, and talent on designing and building a home, Stonewood, on the site of their former family cabin on the Saint Croix River, where she died peacefully surrounded by family.
