Sandra Ecker

Sandra Gene (Sandy) Ecker,
Passed away on August 8, 2016 after six graceful and grateful years of living with cancer. Born in Greencastle, Indiana on December 3, 1935 to Carolyn Ellis Allan and Eugene Allan, she treasured the Christian faith she learned from her grandparents, and was a lifelong reader, traveler and learner. Sandy believed that everything good began in Indiana, including meeting Gene at DePauw University in 1954, marriage and starting a family there, and family camping trips to Indiana Dunes State Park. In multiple moves to Houston, the Northeast, North Carolina and back to Minnesota, and in daily life wherever they were, she was Gene's navigator. She brought her love of books to a nearby nursing home with her Thursday morning library cart, recruiting others to come along to push the cart when she couldn't. Survived by her beloved husband, Gene Ecker, and children, Jeff Ecker (Debbie) and Judy Ecker Budreau (Dick Osgood); six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; cherished family and friends. Service 11 AM Saturday, August 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stillwater, Minnesota. Visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to FamilyMeans or Lakeview Hospice. Private interment at Fort Snelling; arrangements by Bradshaw Funeral Services, Stillwater. The family thanks Dr. Candy Corey and staff at Lakeview Oncology, and Lakeview Hospice for helping Sandy live life on her terms.
